Country Gospel Classics
Back to the roots: that is what we are doing with this double album to mark the 20 th anniversary of the Country Trail Band. In the past five years we have mainly recorded albums with songs in our native Dutch language. Some of these albums contained our own material; others featured modern arrangements of traditional gospel songs. With these albums we have broadened our audience and we will certainly continue to play and record such material. During our performances we have always mixed Dutch songs with country gospels in English.
The Country Trail Band was formed by four guys who shared a desire to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through country music. Three of the founding members are still in the band and through the years they were joined by musicians and singers with the same passion.
Country music is our distinctive style. Whatever we record, it will always have that country touch. The message of the songs has not changed either. We still want to sing about our God, who so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16 ).
Our motto remains short and simple: the music is country, the message is Christ.
Ever since we began, we have played country gospel classics like "I Saw The Light" and "Will The Circle Be Unbroken". We never recorded these songs as we felt that others had already done that so beautifully, that it did not make sense to put our versions on an album. Nevertheless, visitors to our concerts kept asking on which of our CDs they could find these songs. Therefore, to mark our 20 th anniversary, we decided to record a number of famous country gospel songs. As we were making the selection, we soon discovered that all the songs we wanted to record would not fit on one CD. So, we thought "let's celebrate this anniversary properly and make a double CD". We are certain you will recognize most of these classics. Often simple in structure, but with powerful melodies and lyrics, these songs have stood the test of time. We have worked hard to do justice to these country gospel classics and we hope you will enjoy our interpretations.
